My thoughts:
Vampires! Gotta love them! Ignite starts so innocently with Kira moving to a new town, trying to fit in like all teenagers do when all hell starts breaking loose and she is struggling to find out what is going on with the world!
Ok, downside to this, this is very much like Twilight. There are quite a few differences so if you enjoy YA Paranormal, and especially vampires stories, I just suggest looking past the similarities. Unlike Twilight Kira has a magic of her own that keeps her able to face the vampires, which makes this story awesome.
Plus the characters are just cool. I absolutely love the way Kira handles everything. She’s really strong, a bit stubborn, and totally focused. You see this way before her powers even start to show. She’s intense and I love that she’s strong. Also, as much as I love Tristan, I love Luke! It’s so hard for me to choose between these two guys! I’ll just say that both bring something to this plot!
So, ignore the similarities and read this! It ends fabulous and book two picks right up where this leaves off!

And the closer Kira gets to answers, the more terrified she becomes. The conduits fear her, the vampires fear her, and Kira is starting to wonder if maybe they’re right…
Simmer is the second book in the thrilling Midnight Fire Series. It is approximately 65,000 words.
My thoughts:
Ok! As I said above, this one picks right up and just goes!! Kira still has her two guys by her side (YAY!) and is still working with her powers but now everyone is afraid of her. What’s a girl to do?
Kick everyone’s ass of course! The problem is, Kira has to learn how. She maintains her fiestiness and grows quite a bit in this one. I found myself captivated with what she was going through.
The love triangle is a little much, but just look past that and you’ll see a great story. And STILL I have mixed feelings about Tristan and Luke. At least I don’t have mixed feelings about Kira’s enemies. All I can say about them is DIE DIE DIE!! 😉
Plot is just as easy and exciting to read as the first. Definitely a cliff hanger ending on this one!

Wow… what just happened!?
Holy mother of God… Ok, the first two books were good, but this one takes the cake. And the icecream!
If you notice the cover, you’ll see that Kira’s eyes are blue. Definitely an interesting portion of the book, and one I’m still curious about!
The plot in Blaze, the third book in the Midnight Fire Series was amazing. Fast paced as the others but so much was happening that I just couldn’t stop reading. And then I was tearing up, and then laughing. This was my favorite of the first three.
The characters have all grown, and watching that growth is amazing. The big thing that happens at the end of this just left me speechless… I mean, really… first for me, but there you have it! Awesome!!

Aldrich escaped…again. Tristan forgot…everything. And Luke, well, Luke was getting more than a little impatient. But those were the least of Kira’s concerns, because something else happened in England—something she was trying desperately to forget. A wedge of evil had lodged itself in her heart, a little black hole had nestled into her flames, and it wasn’t going away—not anytime soon…and maybe not ever.
Scorch is the fourth and final book in the thrilling Midnight Fire Series. It is approximately 65,000 words.
My thoughts:
Wow, after the last book I was thinking that it could not get any better than that. But this book had so much drama, so much tension, and so much love. I never put it down once I started reading. The plot was fantastic and had me at the edge of my seat multiple times. And then there were things that happened that I just didn’t see coming! The ending had me laughing, crying, and sorta cursing Kaitlyn Davis (but in a good way Kaitlyn!!).
I started this series worried that it would be too much like Twilight. The similarities are there. The star crossed lovers, a lover’s triangle, a mortal in love with a vampire, BUT there is so much more to this series. So please if you are thinking that it is like Twilight, keep reading, don’t compare because they are two completely different stories. And this one is absolutely fabulous.
The only downside to this series, is that it ended. But the ending was beautiful.

Nova – How did the Midnight Fire Series start for you? Image, Idea, Dream?
Idea! I was at the beach (my favorite place!), when I got this idea for supernatural beings that could channel the sun. By the end of my walk, I had characters and a plot swirling in my thoughts 🙂
Nova – Did you have any growing pains with this series?
A little! I actually wrote the first few chapters of Ignite during the summer before my senior year at Johns Hopkins. But once classes started up again, I had no time to work on it! After graduation, I picked up where I left off. Sometimes I think I should have started from scratch, but I’m happy with how it all turned out.
Nova- For anyone that hasn’t started this series, can you tell us a little about it?
Kira Dawson moves back to Charleston when her father loses his job, and discovers that the southern town has a lot more secrets than she ever thought possible. Her new best friend Luke is definitely hiding something, the mysterious Tristan is totally playing hot and cold, and Kira is determined to find out why. But the answers just lead to more questions about exactly who and what Kira is…
Nova- I love that this is about vampires! I was sad to see that trend leave quite a while ago. Do you think they are coming back?
I hope so! Ever since the epic Buffy/Angel romance, I’ve loved vampires. But I think people got tired of hearing similar stories with similar lore—it’s all about creating something new that flips cliché vampire ideas upside down. And I think I did that by introducing the conduits—an all-new vampire hunter!
Nova – Did your obsession start with Buffy the Vampire Slayer? What other books or shows do you love with vampires?
Whoops, gave that away in the last question! Yes, I adore Buffy! Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy is fantastic, as is the new spin-off Bloodlines. But for something a little older, the original Vampire Diaries books by Lynne Ewing are superb! And for something adult, I really enjoyed the Anita Blake series before it got super erotic.
Nova – Do you have a message you try to convey when writing a story?
Not at first, but as my characters learn and grow a message almost naturally arises!
Nova – What are you reading right now?
The Clockwork Princess! Team Will all the way!
Nova – Are there any authors (living or dead) that you would name as influences?
So many! But the author who truly influenced the course of my life has got to be Amanda Hocking. She initiated the self-publishing movement, and without her, I’m not sure I would have one book out, let alone an entire series!
Nova – What do you do when you’re not writing?
Sleep… Okay, just kidding, I’m hopefully more interesting than that! I work in marketing, I love photography, I read whenever I can, and somehow squeeze in time for my friends/family too!
Nova – I read that you wrote back when you were using crayons. What is your favorite utensil now?
My MacBook Air! I take it with me wherever I go! But for handwriting, I use a fine-point sharpie.
Nova – How did you break into the industry?
Kicking and screaming! Self-publishing is definitely an uphill battle, but I finally feel like my series is gaining momentum.
Nova – What is your writing style? Do you create outlines for your writing or do you just sit and type away?
Outlines! I’m an obsessive planner 🙂 But when I get a great idea, I’ll veer off the path and see what happens!
Nova – What is your next project? What have you been working on recently?
Now that Scorch is on-sale (woohoo!!), I’m finally going to start brainstorming and outlining the fantasy series that’s been in the back of my mind for the past couple of months! I’m super excited to work on something new and different!
Nova – Do you write using a computer or the old fashioned pen to paper?
Computer!
Nova – Do you listen to music while writing? If so, what’s on your playlist!?
Nope, sorry! My only music is the honking horns of NYC streets 🙂
Nova – Do you have a guilty pleasure?
Reality television… Real Housewives, Kardashians, The Voice, Survivor… I love them all!
Nova – What is your favorite word?
Summertime 🙂 Simple, maybe, but so many great memories attached.
Nova – What is your least favorite word?
Not sure! There are so many bad ones out in the world that I wish people would just erase from their vocabulary.
Nova – Do you talk to your characters?
Nah, they have too much sass 🙂
