Review Policy
As of 5/7/2013:
I’m starting to go into conniptions! I have a month’s worth of blogging to do in a week! I’ll be gone from 5/15 to 6/21 and will only be periodically blogging and reading.
Authors/Publishers: If you would like me to review a book please understand that the review will not be done any earlier than August! I have a backlog of reviews due and need to catch up prior to taking anymore requests! However, if you do not have a time requirement, please go ahead and send a request and I will get your book reviewed as soon as possible!
Thank you all you wonderful authors, publishers, bloggers, and friends who have been patient while I’m having one crazy year! ❤ Couldn’t do this blog without you!!
General information
I am currently accepting select Young Adult or Adult books for review. You can send emails to Myseryniti (at) live (dot) com.
I accept ARCs, finished copies, ebooks (Kindle or PDF) and audiobooks. If the book is a part of a series, then I may need the previous books. In the case of audiobooks, there will be two reviews: one for the story, and another reviewing the reader/audio performance.
I am currently accepting all types of books however my normal waiting period is around two months unless it is an Arc in which case I will try to time my review around two weeks of the books publication.
Genres
You can also browse my Review Index to get a feel for my interests.
I enjoy YA and Adult fiction in the following genres:
- Paranormal
- Fantasy
- Historical fiction
- Romance
- Horror
- Satirical
- Dystopian / Apocalyptic
- Some Erotica
- Some non-fiction
I do not tend to enjoy books in the following genres:
- Memoirs/biographies
- Extremely political or “hot button” topics
- Overtly preachy Christian fiction (Christian values are fine)
Accepting Books
If I accept a book for review, that does not guarantee a positive review. But it does guarantee promotion through a mention in my Goodreads page, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble as well as an informative review.
Reviews
I will write a review for every book I finish. Most reviews will also be posted on Amazon.com and Goodreads, though they may be modified. My reviews are written in a relaxed manner reminiscent of a conversation among friends. They are not meant to be objective literary critiques.
I write fair and honest reviews, but this does not mean I will always write positive reviews. My reviews are my opinion, and if I don’t enjoy a book then my review will reflect that. I am here to give a service however and that service is to give the best damn review that you’ll see. I’m quirky and my quirkiness is going to shine through but so are great facts about your book!
With that said, I strive to explain why the book in question did or did not work for me personally. I do NOT write nasty or snarky commentary.
If I do not finish a book I will always write an explanation for DNF-ing. These explanations are different from standard reviews and will state that I did not finish the book, what page I read up to, why I did not finish, and if I plan on ever picking up the book again.
I post reviews on my blog, on goodreads.com, amazon.com. I also post links to my reviews on twitter and facebook. I am @MySeryniti at Twitter and My Seryniti facebook page. If you want me to post a review elsewhere, please let me know and I will be more than happy to post it!
I am more than willing to promote your book by hosting interviews and a guest post, as well as giveaways for your book. I am also willing to participate in blog tours. I will never try to sell your book on ebay, but I may give your book away. Remember, people get super excited about giveaways, so they may get super excited about your book.
I am an honest reviewer, if your book is wonderful I will sing it’s praises. If your book was not so good, I will post why I felt that way in a constructive manner.
Review Structure
All reviews will include the following:
- Cover art
- Book stats: Title, publisher, page count, release date, series status
- Where I received the book
- A summary (From Goodreads, Amazon, or the jacket flap)
- My review: What I liked and didn’t
- Rating
- A bit about the author
Rating System:
5- This is one of my new favorites!
4-Not an ohmygodthisisawesome favorite but I will definitely read again and recommend.
3- Good book that I didn’t feel like I had to trudge through to get to the ending. Kept me interested but still missing something.
2- Not quite bad but not quite good either. I like something but not enough to really have a great time reading.
1- Trudged to the ending. A lot of this isn’t resonating with me.
1/2 – Half a point will be used when a book doesn’t quite fit in the categories above or below.
I also have a PERFECT rating which is for the few books that are so fantastic that I’m sad they ended. And a DNF rating.
