Synopsis:

The Angel
After three years caring for her dying mother, Layla Callaway learns she was adopted under unusual circumstances. Following a cryptic message to seek her birth family in Oregon, Layla uproots her lonely life, quickly finding she descends from witches and wizards. Magic is in her blood, and a handsome family friend is eager to prove it. Through a ring imprinted with her birth parents’ memories, Layla’s enigmatic past comes to light, presenting possibilities and trials more chimerical than her wildest dreams.

The Guardian
Quin’s natural charisma yields plenty of witches, but he longs for the lost witch – the mysterious Layla. He’s dreamed about her his entire life, envisioning the day he would lay eyes on her face and aura. When that day arrives, not only is he breathless, he’s confronted with the challenge of a lifetime – an innate need to keep her safe and forever by his side.

The Hunter
Employing fiendish manipulation and manpower, Agro uses the arcane force of others to elevate his supremacy and wealth. Nothing pleases him more than latching on to a mystical vein, and never has there been a more enticing source. The divine witch will be his.

My thoughts:

I know it’s been kind of a fan girl week for me but really… I think it’s awesome. Not going all fan girl and gushing, I can’t help that part, but reading fabulous books and getting to know new authors that I am totally falling in love with!!

Descension is definitely a book that I loved. At 429 pages, I was thinking at first that maybe some of it could have been minimized. As I got more and more into the story, I didn’t want ANY word to be taken out. It was magnificent. I laughed and cried, wanted more, loved the characters and the plot, and even the cliff hanger ending. Yes, another cliff hanger, but soooo worth it!

Although there is a lot of paranormal out there, this is a really great one. It’s different, it’s fun, and it’s a fast read even at a tad over 400 pages. The characters are brilliantly written. At first I wasn’t drawn in, like I said the beginning may be a little long, but once you really get to know Layla you want to know more about Layla, and that’s what this entire book is about, getting to know who she is.

There’s so much to this kind of paranormal that I want to say, but I absolutely abhor spoilers, so I’ll just leave it at this, there isn’t MUCH romance but it’s the type of romance that is “love at first sight” which I know can be annoying for some. But Burgess explains why some of these couples are so head over heels for each other, so I would say, if you like paranormal romance, just keep your mind open and enjoy this fabulous story.

Honestly, it was so good at 4% left my hubby came home and wanted to tell me about his day. I shut off my Kindle and politely listened and then started reading again. He came back in the living room to tell me something else NOT important and I listened again. The fourth time this happened I threw the remote control at him. I did make sure he was looking though. I mean come on!! Pivotal part here! Can’t you see my kindle!!? It’s in my hands! RIGHT HERE!

To make up for it he suggested that I buy book two, because I could not go another night without knowing what was going to happen!

Ohh and a bit of a warning… I looked up wanting to see auras and I was really disappointed I couldn’t. I mean, come on, I’m reading this fabulous story about people that CAN see auras, why can’t I? I really didn’t want this story to end and real life to begin. It’s just that good! The hubbster says move on and just rebound to another book. He just doesn’t understand how hard it is to get into another story when you’re so in love with the characters in this one!! Hilarious I know, but true! And now that I have book two, Impassion (currently LOVING it!), I know I’ll be waiting with bated breath for book three!
