Synopsis:

Flight

Sometimes you just have to take flight.

A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.

Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.

FocusFreshman year of college is hard even when you’re not tied to the future king of a supernatural society.

Allie dives into college head first with Hailey as her roommate and the city of New Orleans as her backyard. As things within The Society heat up, Allie realizes that whether she’s with Levi or not, she’s in far too deep to turn back.

My thoughts:

Ok, seriously!! I’m about to go into valley girl mode here! Yes, insert 80’s accent when I was a teenager and singing Madonna and Cyndi Lauper! It’s going to get that crazy here! And here’s why…

Firstly, I’ve only read Derailed by Alyssa Rose Ivy but seriously? This gal can write!

Secondly, although I loved Derailed, this is a Paranormal Romance! Need I say more?! Well, maybe not, but I’m going to!

Ok, this is a series review and I have to say I loved both books. The plot was really interesting and not your normal “vampire” romance (not that I have anything against those!!), but it was nice to read something different. But no, this isn’t a vampire series. It’s something totally new and different.

What I didn’t like was the way Allie started handling things with her new found sort of boyfriend. And really, I wanted to punch Toby. I mean that guy can seriously get lost! But Allie does have a good excuse to be pissed at Levi, I just didn’t want it to be for the entire series. But this wasn’t drawn out, the movement of the plot felt right. Levi springs something huge on Allie and Allie is the one that has to deal with all of the repercussions of his choices. It sucks big time. But the push and pull between them was enough to keep me reading late into the night. I wanted to know at every turn what in the world was going to happen!

The supporting characters were also great, although Hailey was my favorite. But I really think that every character in these books adds something to the plot. It may be just a little something, but it’s something!

“Are you ready to find out just how far the rabbit hole goes, sweetheart?” Levi reached out his hand waiting for a response.

“Have you ever felt like your life was just a series of mistakes?”

“Sure I have. I think that’s what we call growing up. But sweetie, we aren’t defined by the mistakes we make, but by what we learn from those mistakes and how we move on.”

“Yes. It’s no secret Jared and I haven’t always seen eye to eye.” There were some laughs. “But I wouldn’t hesitate to trust him completely.”

Robert nodded. “Thank you for your opinion. It will be taken into consideration.”

“Thank you.” I pulled Levi’s jacket tighter around myself and sat down. I risked a glance over at Levi, and he was grinning at me. Evidently, he approved.

“Who are you, and what did you do with my best friend?” Hailey whispered loudly.

I know I just said Hailey was my favorite but honestly Jared really grew on me throughout the series. He just seems like he’s a pain in the ass but in reality maybe he’s not. He’s in so much of the book but Alyssa did a great job of not giving away everything about him. He’s definitely one that I’m intrigued about and curious what his role will be in book three. The one thing I wish is that we knew more about Jess. She’s only in a small portion of both books and I wanted to know her more! She’s Allie’s best friend and we know all the other characters but not her.

This does end on quite the cliff hanger. Now, I know many out there aren’t much for cliff hangers, but Alyssa’s writing is so great and her plots are so unique that I wouldn’t put this series aside just because book three, Found, isn’t out yet. I say, give Allie and Levi a chance and see where they, and Alyssa can take your imagination. It is so worth the ride.
