Synopsis:Sophies_Run.indd

Her famous star remains her rock while life takes her on a little detour…

Who says that the road towards true love is straight and even? Sophie is certainly discovering that it is anything but.

So she has finally found the man of her dreams! Well… she knows who he is, even though she hasn’t actually quite met him yet. But she misses her opportunity, and then her life goes crazy. Rock star and ex-fiancé, Dan, keeps getting in the way of her new romance—even if he is just trying to be helpful. A fire, an impromptu mini-trip with Dan, and a dreaded wedding later, Sophie is still struggling to meet the love of her life. Then, just as she is getting it together with her perfect man, best friend Rachel commits an act of unspeakable betrayal.

Sophie has had enough. Confused and distraught, she decides that it is time for radical change. Surprising herself and shocking her friends, she embarks on a secret journey eventually gets her life back on track.

My thoughts:

First, let me warn you guys. I can prattle on and on and on about Sophie. In my mind Nicky Wells brings this world that is so fantastical but still firmly planted on the ground. It’s a story about a girl with issues but she faces them her way and her way is simply fantastic! The line that Nicky walks to keep this fun but still so real is perfect and I’ve loved every single word of Sophie’s story.

Nicky Wells by far, does it again. Sophie’s Turn was fabulous but Sophie’s Run goes far beyond any expectations I had set! I did not want this story to end! This is even better than the first. I feel like I know Sophie, like we’ve been girlfriends for a while and everything she gets herself into, I’m there with her. She’s such an amazing character that pulls you into her story, making you love her even when you are worried for her or laughing at her decisions.

There are a myriad of emotions that came out of me while reading Sophie’s Run. Happiness, shock, horror and most of all the fabulous feeling of love that you just can not help but have for these wonderful characters! As they say, all you need is love, but it’s Sophie’s journey to finding her thunderbolt and lighting kind of love that makes this such a wonderful and quite dramatic read. Once again Rachel was my favorite even as she does some scandalous things but Greetje was a new character that I just could not get enough of. Her loving assistance with Sophie while she’s going through such a hard time, is wonderful to see and is exactly what Sophie needs.

Our favorite rock star, Dan is back and it’s fun to see if he’s going to create as much havoc in Sophie’s Run as he did in Sophie’s Turn. But honestly Sophie is up to all her tricks and makes quite a bit of havoc herself. But this is what I love about Sophie. As the story progresses I can see myself making the same foibles that she does! And you know when she doesn’t mean it but something mean still comes out of her mouth and she regrets it instantly but is too prideful to take it back! See what I mean? Totally realistic but Nicky has a way to make that reality much more fun than life. Once again the story was phenomenal, full of bits and pieces that add depth to an already delightful, hard to put down story! I love the old characters, I loved the new characters. I just plain LOVE it all!

If you haven’t read Sophie’s Turn there’s enough in this to let you know what is going on but not so much that you feel encumbered if you have already read the first. It starts off perfectly and there’s just enough of a reminder of all of the old characters to let you move right along without having to research the first book, perfectly brilliant! The plot is once again fantastic and as fast paced and deliriously fun as the first. Again, so fantastic that I never wanted to put it down. And although there is a third coming soon, I didn’t feel like the ending was left at a cliffhanger. It was absolutely wonderful and I had tears streaming down my face because I do not want Sophie’s story to end. I miss you already girl!!

Awsome!
