World Animal Day!!!

World Animal Day Blog Hop: 10/4

If you guys have read some of my reviews you may notice if there is any kind of animal whatsoever I am going to be in love with that animal. Especially dogs. I just LOVE to love dogs. They are so freaking cute. I can’t help myself.

So in honor of World Animal Day I thought I would tell a silly story about how we adopted my silly baby girl, Anna.

My hubby and I were at the mall one day when he says vehemently “Do NOT turn around!”

Well now, what is a girl to do BUT turn around, right? I mean come on! Reverse psychology is in use here. I am going to do the exact opposite of everything he says, especially if he says it like he did the above statement. It makes me wonder, why should I NOT turn around. Is there some kind of sexy guy or some girl all jazzed up? I mean we do live in a college town for goodness sakes, anything can happen. So, I turn around.

And what do I see but a pet appreciation day from the pound. They don’t call them pounds here but you get my gist, shelter or whatever. This particular shelter is trying so hard to become a no kill shelter but people continuously bring in pets and they are at capacity. This shelter even has horses! Boy oh boy if I had the room, yes I would get a horse! But, as it is I saw the cages of puppies, all lined up in a row just waiting for someone to love them!!

Now we already have two dogs but I’m a sucker for cute faces, what can I say? We played with these pups for over an hour. I sat down and Anna came and sat in my lap. OK I was just totally adopted! I wanted to get a little guy that was very shy and I was so worried for him but there is no way we could bring home TWO pups when we already have two and live in a tiny house.

Plus I really did want a lap puppy!!! She is so freaking adorable and she’s definitely a momma’s girl which makes me even happier. So, we didn’t necessarily adopt her but she definitely came home with us. She is my little lap baby which is nice in a house where you have a Weimerener who loves to chew up your shoes, the more expensive the better, and a Collie/German Shepherd who thinks he owns the place and is so soft but refuses to sit on my lap. He will deign to sit near me, however. That is unless I leave the house. Then all hell will break loose. Did I say we have a little house? Where pillows are constantly being torn apart and couches chewed on, and yes, my shoes!  When we return they are all kinds of loving and apologize for the tornado that they caused and attack the broom while I sweep.

Dogs… I just really can’t get enough!

Mojo hiding from the puppies.

Jax recycling our water bottles. So thoughtful!

Helping me read. Laps are NOT for books!

When we say our animals are like our babies, we mean it!! I’d have at least four pups by now if we had a bigger yard! 😀 For now, I’m a happy momma.

More great animals for World Animal Day!!

And a giveaway! Don’t miss it!

great post and tremendously cute pics. Thanks for sharing the story.

    1. My pleasure! I love stuff like this. I’ve been wanting to post the pics of my silly babies anyway. 😀

  3. Sounds to me like you need some acreage so you can take in more! Even if you just foster it would probably be very helpful for the shelter. I was just thinking about doing some volunteering at the animal shelter but I know that I wouldn’t be able to resist those adorable dogs. I do okay with resisting cats but dogs are so hard! They look at you with those little puppy dog eyes and I just can’t resist!

    1. I so do Candace! You have no idea! I have thought about fostering but oh boy… I can just imagine what another pup would be like to the household. I do still have a pair of flip flops though… so maybe it won’t be too bad. LOL

  4. Great post.

Thank you for sharing the tale of Anna. I love how you ignored your husband and ended up adding to the household 🙂

The pictures are lovely too. Thank you for taking part in the blog hop 🙂

    1. Yes, ignoring him, especially when it comes to animals, is what I do best! Although he did try to talk me into a beautiful white German Shepherd the other day. Thankfully he loves our babies just as much as I do!

  5. lol, the recycling dog – love it!

    1. They get crazy with the water bottles but Jax taught them. He likes to chew off the caps. Whatever keeps them off of my shoes. 😀

  6. They pick us (not the other way way around), don’t they? Same thing happened with my Pooka (cat) – I had had black and white cats for years and went to the shelter to get anything but a black and white cat, and of course, this little black and white one instantly adopted me and forced me to take her home 🙂

    1. YES! Don’t you just love that? 😀

  7. It’s always so great when the animal chooses you!

    1. I completely agree. We’ve been so lucky with these guys. Whoops and gal 😀

  8. Great pics and a great post. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you! Loved your llamas! 😀

  9. Great post! Rescue pups are the best! You have a huge heart and those fur babies know love and happiness thanks to you.

    1. Awww!!! Thank you so much! ❤

    1. Thank you so much! We say they are spoiled but in reality, they spoil us!
